PROJECTS & PROPOSALS
ICE MOUNTAIN ASSOCIATION - REQUESTS FOR PROPOSALS
The Ice Mountain Association (IMA) is always interested in proposals for the following projects. Only licensed and insured contractors will be considered. Please email proposals to: IceMountainAssociation@gmail.com Road Maintenance: Gravel replacement, culvert clearing, road re-crowning and re-grading. Snow Removal: Clear IMA gravel roads of any snow exceeding 6". Clearing should occur as soon as possible after the snowfall occurs. Ideally within a day. Bridge Cleaning: Either the same contractor who does the snow removal or another contractor will be needed to clear the car bridge after a flood deposits blocks of ice, trees and other debris on the bridge and inside the bridge culverts. Natural debris (branches, trees, ice etc.) can be pushed back into the river on the downstream side since that is where it would go if the bridge wasn’t there. Dispose of man-made trash that may accumulate because that does not get put back in the river. Bridge Repair BACKGROUND: In October 2013, IMA contracted to pour a new concrete surface and curbs on the bridge after the original surface. Trees slammed into the new concrete curbs after severe flooding last winter. Virtually all the curbs on the downstream side were destroyed. One piece of one 10ft. curb on the upstream side broke off. Braces have begun to be installed to help keep the upstream curbs in place. This work is ongoing. WORK NEEDED: There was a suggestion made that for the downstream side, to install lengths of pressure treated 6X6's, attached with hinges, which would flip over when the force of the flooding water comes. After the water recedes and the deck is cleared, they can be flipped back onto the bridge. Other ideas are welcomed, including having no curbs. Bridge Replacement: Proposals are welcome for designs to replace the existing car bridge. Controlled Burns: Lawn Debris BACKGROUND: Burning occurs at a designated location in the common area, under authority and supervision of the Slanesville Fire Department. The SVFD's presence is arranged separately by IMA. WORK NEEDED: In addition to igniting the brush, etc. at the burn site, the contractor must watch the area to assure that the fire is extinguished--this may take up to 4 hours. Once the embers and all fire is out, the ash is to be removed to a designated area within the community. If it is decided that an area within the community is no longer available for the ash, the contractor will also be responsible for disposing of the ash off-site. |
