Formation & Collapse: The February 5, 2014 North River Ice Dam.
Vic Velelli took these pictures and reported the time sequence:
4pm: An ice dam forms, completely engulfing the car bridge to Phase 2.
4:30pm: The North River Swells beyond its embankments. Even the outline of the car bridge cannot be seen at this point.
4:44pm: The ice dam breaks.
4:47pm. The water begins receding to its natural contours. However, large ice chunks are left behind. After the bridge is cleared investigation will show that the low concrete 'rails' along either side have some significant damage. Please be very careful when driving, as in many places there is nothing to catch the tires if a driver veers too close to an edge.

NOVEMBER 2013 - LOW WATER BRIDGE PROJECT
Report from IMA Association President Vic Velelli:
"The bridge concrete work has been completed, with the final pour of concrete for the curbs on Nov. 6. Large truck restrictions are lifted as of this Thursday, November 14, so trash will be picked on Phase II as usual. However, super-heavy vehicles like concrete trucks & dump trucks should stay off the bridge for another couple of weeks. We filled in the concrete approach "step" on the Phase I side with shale, and on the Phase II side we used Aquaphalt" to make 2 ramps to fill in the step, spaced to accommodate most vehicles. Until we can do some more filling in, it would be best to drive on & off both concrete approaches very slowly. Attached are pictures of the work as it progressed."

2012 Labor Day Picnic
The 2012 Labor Day food and organization were superb. It was as if Martha Stewart was perched on Raven Rocks with a telescope and directing the action by walkie-talkie. Many thanks to Connie, Kathleen, Sandy, Vic, John, Rudy for pulling it together, and of course to everyone who contributed the fine dishes and refreshments. Labor Day photo credits: Candice Watson!
2012 Independence Day celebration Picnic
The annual Independence Day celebration included hay rides, games, fine victuals, the 'Ferguson cannon' and fireworks. Pictured to the left are Peppermint-Lemon treats, prepared by Kathleen O'Brien.

Memorial Day - Annual Work Day
Brand new cabinet built in 1-day for the common area electrical box and outlet.
The annual work day saw many tasks accomplished. Those tasks included, yet were not limited to:
1) The river was walked and although not much trash was found (good thing!), a large old heavy plastic coca-cola pallet was pulled out and disposed of properly.
2) The swinging bridge onto Ice Mountain was coated with preservative.
3) A log 'china-cabinet' was built to house electrical gear and meter on the common area.

Independence Day Celebration 2011
Many thanks to Connie and Vic Velelli, Sandy and John Moriarty, Kathleen O'Brian and Rudy Ferguson and the entire team for organizing. Everyone came together to contribute meats and vegetables and starches and fruits and desserts, along with decorations and refreshments and chores aplenty. Horn, violin and bass drum music from the Getchell's kept a rapt crowd, and the fireworks display rivaled any around. We apparently box above our weight at Ice Mountain.
Memorial Day 2011
We enjoyed (mostly!) fantastic weather, and certainly the finest food and company imaginable. The two suspension bridges received repairs and coats of sealant. A hand-rail was built for the hillside stairs that lead to the the Phase 2 bridge. The picnic table seats were reinforced with new wood, and the meadows and picnic area were mowed and trimmed. Decorations adorned the gateway, bulletin board and picnic areas, and many other events abounded. Big thanks to all who participated, and to master event organizer, Connie Velelli.
